S.M.I.L.E. Club & Societies

The clubs & societies division is doing quite well now. If we are elected, we will definitely continue and improvise on what the current Head of Clubs & Societies is doing. Besides encouraging students of Monash to join the many beneficial societies available, we will also be collaborating with the Welfare division to work on improving the participation of the Silver Wings project and its quality.

As money/financial matters have always been of scrutiny, we will strive to achieve what our party, SMILE has promised, that is, to practice transparency in every aspect. Thus, we will be working very closely with the Treasurer in order to make sure that all financial matters are in order. Not only that, we will also do what we to ensure that claims from the various clubs and societies be processed faster.

As SMILE has also promised to organize more events for our students, we will make sure that the Clubs & Societies division is not left out. I will see to it that Monash organizes and be the host for more MAPCU events such as tug-of-war, foosball, etc. We will also try to send out more teams to represent Monash in more MAPCU events. Besides that, we would also hope to quicken the process of issuing certificates.

Next, we will make sure that there won’t be any clashing of events in uni like the clashing of different fundraising campaigns and clashing of events with MUSA events.

Lastly, we would like to congratulate the previous committee as they have done an awesome job. It will be a tough act to follow but we will definitely live up to all your expectations. We will do what we have promised and most of all we will improve on any shortcomings that you are currently experiencing.

Campaigning Day 4!

Yeong Yung Lin (running for President) then took over the stage with his saxophone.


Steffi Gandalia (running for Vice President with Joyce Ng Xiang Ee) took the lead after that, presenting a few songs together with some of our S.M.I.L.E. members.

The weather was killing us. Roasting us one by one as the tree shadows fade.
But that could not stop us from campaigning.
That's the spirit y'all! ;)

S.M.I.L.E. Acitivites

The Monash University Activities Advisory committee was established y in order to organize and promote major social events. It was established in the spirit of encouraging active participation in organizing and taking part in social events.

This year, Smile’s activities committee promises six major events.

• Two Orientation bashes which will most probably be overnight events
• One street carnival
• Monash Olympics/M’Olympic games which will be an inter school sports carnival in which we will try to involve all sports clubs so that perhaps each sports club will manage their respective event, for eg basketball will manage the basket ball event.
• We also plan on a great way to celebrate post exams with an After Exam Party!
• The Monash Annual Ball will also be organized but we propose to have an open survey so that students get a chance to choose the theme.
  
  

  So why should you vote for Smile? Because we are experienced and can throw not just good events, but great events! We have nearly 15 members who have helped in activities and have been directly involved in various activities subcommittees. In addition to that, our candidate for vice president, Joyce, is the current activities chairperson and she will actively guide the incoming activities chairperson.
  
  Furthermore, my partner and I are also experienced at handling events. Wei Kwong, with whom I share this position, has been actively involved in 5 events such as 1 orientation bash, the M’Olympic games, a Welcome Back Party, the Street Carnival and a Monash Ball.
  
  In addition, we also intent to submit an event account to the MUSA treasurer who will then make it available to the students so that you will know what we are doing with your money.
  
  We plan on having a post mortem for every event so that constructive feedback can be obtained. The activities advisory committee plans to have open recruitment for events, so that students outside of MUSA will have an opportunity to help organize events! This will be done as per the constitution that states that one of our duties is to provide avenues for students to participate in events.
